Why 'Azhar' is an important film for Emraan Hashmi
Emraan Hashmi's upcoming movie 'Azhar' which is releasing this week on Friday The 13th May is an important film for Emraan Hashmi. It would not be wrong to say that Azhar will be a career defining film for Emraan Hashmi. Azhar becoming a hit or a flop will have its effects on Emraan's career.
Along with Emraan Hashmi, Azhar features Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles.
Azhar is produced by Ekta Kapoor and Sony Pictures and is a biopic. It is based on the life of former Indian international cricketer Mohammad Ahzaruddin, who was implicated in a cricket match-fixing scandal in 2000, and was banned for life.
This is the first time Emraan Hashmi is playing a cricketer and he is playing Mohammad Azharuddin.
Azhar's success will also boost Emraan's ability to play a wide range of characters, and not just bookies and con men.
Azhar is a non-Bhatt camp film and success of Azhar means more offers to Emraan Hashmi from other production houses. It will help him to get out of the 'Bhatt camp hero' tag.
Azhar's success will also have the momentum going into his next film Raaz 4.
It has been some time since a Emraan Hashmi movie set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
Emraan previous outings in the recent past have all been box office duds failing to make moolah. Be it Hamaari Adhuri Kahani, Mr.X, Ungli or Raja Natwarlal all have struggled at the box office.
The success of Azhar will catapult him into a bigger star and a much needed career boost.
Will 'Azhar' be a success at the box office? will have to wait and see. It all depends on the audience and the quality of the product. Songs are already popular and we hope Azhar will give Emraan Hashmi a much needed break.
We wish all the best for Emraan Hashmi and 'Azhar' team.
