The Accidental PM Box Office Report
Collections are better than expected on Day 1!The Accidental Prime Minister Box Office Collection | Full Details
'The Accidental Prime Minister' opened to a mediocre response at the box office. Given the hype and controversy surrounding the film (trailer had more than 70 million views at the time of release!), the response to the film at the box office is very average. But the film actually did better than what we had predicted. But this opening isn't enough for the film to sustain or grow in the weekend, as the reviews are largely negative. And because of the film's genre and content, 'The Accidental Prime Minister' is appealing only to a small percentage of the moviegoers; and with the patriotic action film 'URI The Surgical Strike' and masala-action film 'Simmba' also in the theatres, which are actually far better films than the 'The Accidental Prime Minister', the film will inevitably crash at the box office. The collections are bound to drop from the second day, as the first day collections are mostly the result of the hype & controversy surrounding the film. The bad word-of-mouth surrounding the film will also help in its rapid demise at the box office.
The movie collected approximately around 2.5 crores at the box office on Day 1. The collection at the single screens is almost nonexistent, and the 2.5 crores are entirely from the multiplexes.
SEE - The Accidental Prime Minister Box Office Prediction; Hit or Flop?
'The Accidental Prime Minister' only made the people talking about it but failed to bring them to the theatres. Which is true for most of the political films in India. As political films are the least successful at the box office. 'The Accidental Prime Minister' was always going to fail unless a miracle happened. The film had to be top notch in terms of quality to have any chance at the box office, but the poor film making and shabby technicalities have essentially killed the film. With better options like URI and Simmba available (Simmba is still rock steady at the box office even in its 3rd week!), we don't see the audience choosing for 'The Accidental Prime Minister' in the coming days.
