Gully Boy had its biggest day at the box office on Sunday (Day 4), as it crossed the 20 crore mark. The collections on Sunday are about 5% more than its first day collections at the box office. The film had collected around 19.5 crores on Day 1.
Gully Boy did a business of around ~20.51 crores at the box office on its fourth day. The film saw a growth of only around 9% from its Saturday collections, which is decent. We had expected the film to reach the 22 crore mark in our yesterday's box office report, but it could only reach up to 20.51 cr; as only the multiplexes at the Tier 1 cities are bringing in the bulk of the collections. The single screens and most of the multiplexes in the Tier 2 cities are strictly decent, if not below average.
Sunday's collection takes the 4-day first weekend total to a good 72.91 crores. Gully Boy still has 4 days at the box office before Total Dhamaal releases, which will take away significant number of screens from it.
How well the film will hold from Monday onwards will determine its future at the box office in the coming weeks. It would be great for the film if it can reach two-digit figure on its first Monday. The collections on Monday should be around 9.5-10 crore mark going by the initial reports.
