Releasing alongside the political film, 'PM Narendra Modi', this week at the box is actor Arjun Kapoor starrer crime-thriller, 'India's Most Wanted'. The film is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who previously directed films like 'No One Killed Jessica', 'Ghanchakkar' and 'Raid'. So, let's analyse the box office prospects of this film.
Arjun Kapoor, still recovering from the box office debacle of his last film 'Namaste England', has come up with a completely different kind of cinema in form of 'India's Most Wanted'. This is something that Arjun Kapoor hadn't done before. The trailer of this film makes it seem like an intriguing cat-and-mouse game, but it was not that impressive. It wasn't something that immediately compels you to watch the film or book your tickets. From the trailer, the film appears to be largely devoid of action, and seems more likely to be a dialogue-oriented tense drama. And, hence the film will mostly not be appealing to the single screen audience, and will mainly be a multiplex runner. But, even at the multiplexes the film will struggle to get good footfalls on Day 1. Good critical reception and audience word-of-mouth will be very crucial in determining the box office fate of this film. Unlike the masala-action and masala-comedy genre, which are mostly unaffected by the critics' reviews (like Simmba and Total Dhamaal); films like 'India's Most Wanted' will be quite dependent on the post-release reception by both the critics and the movie-goers.

The other release, 'PM Narendra Modi', won't affect the film much, as both are distinctively different films, with different target audiences; but, last week's release, 'De De Pyaar De', is still going steady at the box office. Also, there are no cricket matches involving India right now, and there are no significant Hindi releases next week until Salman Khan's 'Bharat' arrives on June 5th. So, the film has a good window-period at the box office to make the most. 'India's Most Wanted' will be entirely dependent on its content at the box office, if it manages to impress the audience, then it will have a good run.
Even though the makers of this film have tried through various ways to create a buzz for the film, but honestly we don't see them working well, as the buzz about the film is quite cold and subdued. The film has a tough job at the box office on its first day, and might just cross the 2 crore mark.
Overall, 'India's Most Wanted' might collect around ~1.5 - 2.5 crores on its first day at the box office.
