Batla House 1st Day Collection
Good Opening For Batla HouseBatla House Opening Day Collection
'Batla House' took a good start at the box office by collecting around an estimated ~14 crores on its first day. The collections might feel slightly underwhelming considering the hype and buzz surrounding the clash with 'Mission Mangal' and the collections by John Abraham starrer 'Satyameva Jayate' during clash with 'Gold' last year the same-time. But, if we consider the fair market-value of the film then the collections are actually more than good, and also 'Batla House' is not a typical commercial action-masala fare like 'Satyameva Jayate' which had got a solid backing from the mass audience. And, John Abraham's last release as a solo lead, 'Romeo Akbar Walter', collected around ~6 crores on its opening even when it was the solo release of the week. Batla House's first day collections are more than double 'Romeo Akbar Walter's 1st day collections. Have to say, John Abraham actually does better in clashes!
'Batla House' started the day on a relatively moderate note with occupancy in the morning shows being around ~20-25%. Then the film picked greatly later in the day, as the afternoon and evening shows occupancy were around ~55-60% and ~70% respectively. The night shows' occupancy were at similar levels to that of evening shows. The overall first day occupancy for 'Batla House' was around ~55-60%.
While the film, when seen on an individual level has performed good at the box office. But, when we take the clash with 'Mission Mangal' into perspective, the performance of 'Batla House' was way below 'Mission Mangal'. 'Mission Mangal' easily outperformed 'Batla House', specially at the multiplexes, where Mission Mangal's collections are almost 3-times to that of 'Batla House's. While 'Batla House' managed to close that gap at the single screens, but even there 'Mission Mangal' had an upper hand over 'Batla House'. 'Mission Mangal' was released in around ~3100 screens, while 'Batla House' was released in around ~2000 screens across India.

'Batla House's first day advance booking figures were suggesting a number of around 10-11 crores for the first day, and even the morning shows footfalls were conveying the same. But, the pick-up later in the day managed to reach the film towards a ~14 crore opening. 'Batla House' clearly got the advantage of the national holiday, as the spot bookings saw a definite surge. Day 2 will be the true test for the film as it is a normal working day, and will also reflect the real-value of the film.
