Fails to make a mark at the box officeKempegowda 2 Total Collection Till Date
The Kannada action movie 'Kempegowda 2' featuring actor Komal Kumar finally hit the screens after years of delay. The film released on Friday 09 August across Karnataka, but it wasn't very fortunate at the box office and couldn't make a mark. 'Kempegowda 2' released against the much awaited Kannada biggie 'Kurukshetra' starring 'Challenging Star' Darshan as Duryodhana. The clash with 'Kurukshetra' proved to be very costly for the film, as it couldn't even post a decent total at the box office on the very first day. 'Kempegowda 2' could not find enough screens and shows due to the clash with 'Kurukshetra' at the box office. On Day 1, 'Kurukshetra' had 354 shows in Bangalore, while 'Kempegowda 2' had only 70 shows. 'Kurukshetra' took away around ~80% of the screens on the day of the release, leaving 'Kempegowda 2' with not much. But, 'Kempegowda 2' wasn't even able to make use of the minimum screens it got, as the overall audience turn-out for the film was quite below-average. 'Kurukshetra' got the lion's share of the screens and shows and it opened to a huge response at the Kannada box office, and also became the highest grossing Kannada film of 2019.

The first day collection of 'Kempegowda 2' was only around ~15-20 lakhs, and the film couldn't show much growth in the weekends, and dropped badly on Monday. 'Kempegowda 2' was swimming against the tide at the box office, and the poor audience response completely drowned it. The film went out of the theaters across Karnataka in just 6 days of its release, as the new releases which hit the screens on 15 Aug Independence Day took away all its screens (except for its KG road 'Main Theatre' Santhosh). The 6 days collection is pretty much the lifetime collection of the film at the box office which is around ~1.25 crores.
'Kempegowda 2' was the comeback film for actor Komal Kumar, who had taken long pause after his 2016 movies 'Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttanna' and 'Deal Raja'. Komal, who is known for his comic abilities had made a mark among the audience as a comedy actor. But, 'Kempegowda 2' was his makeover film as an action hero, which din't work with the audience. The film also featured actor 'Loose Maada' Yogi and former cricketer turned actor Sreesanth.
