Laal Kaptaan 1st Week Box Office Collection
With the release of three new Bollywood films namely, 'Housefull 4', 'Made In China', and 'Saand Ki Aankh' on 25 October; and coupled with its disastrous performance at the box office, 'Laal 'Kaptaan' is completely out of the cinemas in just one week of its release. The film had a very poor opening and had only collected a paltry sum of around ~2 crores in its opening weekend. 'Laal Kaptaan' continued its poor run at the box office even in the weekdays. The film only added around ~80 lakhs more to its box office tally, which took the overall first week total to around ~2.80 crores. The film's 1st week collections are its lifetime collections. Looking at the box office end results, the film should've been released straight to digital streaming platforms instead of a theatrical release.

'Laal Kaptaan' collected around ~2 crores in its first weekend as the film was unsuccessful in registering any significant growth over the weekend. With these kind of collections the film is bound to flop at the box office, and soon will be out of the cinemas. 'Laal Kaptaan' is now actor Saif Ali Khan's 10th flop in a row at the box office. Saif Ali Khan's next release is a historical war drama named as 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior', where actor Ajay Devgan is playing the role of the agonist. Saif is playing the lead antagonist.

Laal Kaptaan opened to a dull response from the movie-going audience on its first day at the box office. The film was released in around an estimated ~850 screens across India. The morning and afternoon shows occupancies were poor, and may not significantly increase in the evening and the night shows, specially after the below-average critical reception of the film. Going by the current trending of the film, 'Laal Kaptaan's first day collection can only be around ~0.50-0.75 crores. The holdover films actually had better occupancies compared to the new releases this Friday. And, this response was actually expected, as none of the new movie releases carried any kind of pre-release hype/buzz. But, the first day collection is better than the other simultaneous release 'Ghost', but, that is nothing to boast about. Looks like actor Saif Ali Khan's bad phase at the box office will continue, even though he may have found success in the web-series domain.

Laal Kaptaan Day 1 Collection Prediction Analysis
The action drama film, 'Laal Kaptaan', featuring actor Saif Ali Khan in the lead role, is getting released this Friday 18th October. The film was earlier scheduled to release in the first week of September, but was later pushed forward to 11 October, and is finally releasing on 18th October. There were even talks of the film directly releasing on the Eros Now digital streaming platform, but the film is now actually getting a theatrical release. In this post, we'll try to analyse the box office prospects of the film, and predict the first day box office collection.
There definitely might've been quite a few reasons when the makers may have initially thought about a direct digital release of the film. Even though the film is supposedly an action drama, it is not the typical actioner that appeals to the masses and brings them in large numbers to the cinemas. The film, actually quite belongs a niche genre, and even though it has primarily been tagged as an action-drama with respect to its genre, the film feels like more of a countryside crime-drama sprinkled with some action, if we go by the trailers. Therefore, might not be appealing to many movie-going audience apart from the ones that enjoy these kind of films. 'Laal Kaptaan' is kind of, neither completely multiplex nor single screen movie; but appeals to a very particular section of the audience who cannot be boldly bracketed. Makes us remember the box office flop film, 'Sonchiriya'. And also, 'Laal Kaptaan's lead actor, the face of the film, Saif Ali Khan, is going through a bad patch at the box office.
Actor Saif Ali Khan is coming after a series of box office flops, some of them are absolute box office disasters. He has 9 flop films in a row before 'Laal Kaptaan', and Saif Ali Khan's last HIT film at the box office was 'Race 2' way back in 2013. There isn't much hype surrounding the film, and the buzz/interest in the movie-going audience about the film, is also quite subdued. The trailer of the film was released in three chapters, and all the three trailers/chapters make the film seem to be pretty well-made, and they give the vibes of an engrossing movie. All the three trailers are well-cut, but they haven't been able to generate the kind of buzz that they should have. Also, the film has had very low-key or pretty much no promotions/publicity at all.
Any film's first day collection depends upon the lead actors' box office pull, and the pre-release hype/buzz/interest that the film creates for itself through its promotional material like trailer, songs and other promos; and the genre also plays a part. And, when it comes to 'Laal Kaptaan', all of the three things are quite amiss. Hence, the opening day collection for the film will not be big. Yes, if the film turns out to be good, and impresses the audience, the positive audience word-of-mouth will help the film grow at the box office. But, when it comes to the first day collection, 'Laal Kaptaan' is going to score low.
'Laal Kaptaan' is releasing alongside Vikram Bhatt's Horror film, 'Ghost'; and there are big-budget holdover films like 'War'. But, the other films at the box office mostly won't have much influence on 'Laal Kaptaan's collections, as the film has its box office prospects completely rested on itself. And, 'Ghost' is looking like a non-opener at the box office, and 'Laal Kaptaan' will most probably have better Day 1 collections than 'Ghost', which has absolutely no face-value.
Overall, 'Laal Kaptaan' will struggle to bring the audience to the cinemas on its first day, and might collect only around 0.50-1.50 crores on day 1. The film may have a turn of fortune in the later days depending upon the audience response and the critical reception. But, day 1 is mostly going to be quite low; it will be a good opening for the film if it can manage an opening of more than 2 crores.
