Bypass Road, featuring actor Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead role, is releasing this Friday at the box office. The film was originally scheduled to release a week earlier, but was pushed-back mostly because of excessive films already at the box office in form of holdover films, and the new film 'Ujda Chaman' which was supposed to release this week was pre-poned to release on November 1. And, had 'Bypass Road' also released on the same day, it would have only added to the crowding of the films at the box office. Therefore, it is a good decision on the part of the makers to postpone their release by one week. But, is it going to change anything for the film at the box office? We have to wait to see. In this post, we'll try to analyse the box office prospects and predict the opening day collection of the film.
The Diwali holdover releases like 'Housefull 4', 'Made In China' and 'Saand Ki Aankh' have considerably slowed down, and the last week's release, 'Ujda Chaman', has been a slow accumulator at the box office. As a result, a good healthy screen space will be available for this week's new releases, 'Bala' and 'Bypass Road'. 'Bypass Road' is releasing alongside another film named 'Bala', starring Ayushman Khurana in the lead. 'Bala' is the biggest release of this week, and 'Bypass Road' is a considerably smaller film in almost all the aspects when compared to 'Bala', and even the scale of release at the box office will also be significantly smaller than 'Bala'. 'Bypass Road' is no competition to 'Bala', and its release won't affect 'Bala' in any way at the box office. Hence, it is more of a co-release than a clash.
Honestly, Bypass Road's box office prospects are almost completely dependent on itself irrespective of the other films at the box office. The film has NO 'Star-Power' to propel it at the box office at least in the 1st weekend as the lead actor of the film, Neil Nitin Mukesh, has ZERO box-office pull even though he is quite a known name among the movie-going audience. He has NO HIT films to his credit till date as a solo lead actor, and the only box office successes he has had are the films which featured other star actors as their leads. Hence, the film's publicity materials like posters, trailers, songs and the core content will play the central role in getting people to the cinemas. Also, Bypass Road's genre is different from all the Hindi films that are currently at the box office, and 'Bypass Road' will get its audience that might be interested in watching this film.
Going by the low buzz, pre-release interest and hype, the film's first day collection will be on the lower side. The trailer of the film, in our opinion, was pretty mediocre to compel anyone to watch this film in the theatres. The promotions and publicity for the film are also pretty much non-existent. 'Bypass Road' will open at the same levels as Ghost and Laal Kaptaan did three weeks ago. The film will mostly be released in around 500-600 screens across India.
Overall, the first day box office collection of 'Bypass Road' can be around 0.25-0.75 crores.
