Good Newwz: HIT or FLOP?Good Newwz Day 1 Collection Prediction | Analysis
Actor Akshay Kumar, who is currently is in the golden phase of his movie career, will be back at the box office for the fourth time this year with the comedy-drama film 'Good Newwz'. All of his previous three films in the year 2019 namely 'Kesari', 'Mission Mangal' and 'Housefull 4' have been box office successes, and all of the three films have collected more than their respective predecessor. Hypothetically, if the same upward trend continues then 'Good Newwz' should be a bigger hit than Housefull 4! But, hypotheses don't always hold true specially when it comes to the box office collections, still, you never know with Akshay Kumar, looking at his current box office Midas touch where even the worst of his films like 'Housefull 4' end-up reaching up to 200 crores. So, can Akshay Kumar continue his box office dream run with 'Good Newwz' and end the year 2019 on a high note? Let's discuss.

The film is releasing on Friday 27 December after the Christmas holiday, and just a week after the release of Salman Khan's masala-action film 'Dabangg 3'. 'Good Newwz' might have to fight for screens specially at the single screen cinemas, as 'Dabangg 3' is looking to lock-in a good number of those cinemas at least for 2 weeks. So, it might be a hard battle for 'Good Newwz' to get a good number of screens/shows at the single screens specially if 'Dabangg 3' holds strong at the box office. But, 'Good Newwz' because of its content and genre tilts towards the urban multiplex audience. And, 'Dabangg 3' which is an action masala film leans towards the single screen/mass audience. Both the films belong to contrasting genres with different target audience, so the audience overlap between the two films is significantly less to cause any notable box office damage to each other. Apart from the possibility of 'Dabangg 3' holding onto its screens at the single screen cinemas, 'Good Newwz' won't face any other hurdle at the box office. In fact, being a heavy front-loaded film, 'Dabangg 3' would've done most of its business in its first week even before 'Good Newwz' could arrive. Both the films can actually coexist at the box office and do their deserved business.

'Good Newwz' is the solo Bollywood release on 27th December. Also, there are no big-star South Indian films releasing on 27th (remember, how 'Sye Raa' impacted 'War's screen space and 'Bigil' impacted 'Housefull 4's screen space in the southern states). And, there will be no holdover film apart from 'Dabangg 3' at the box office to compete with 'Good Newwz', as 'Dabangg 3' will almost put an end to all the previous releases by reducing them to non-entities at the box office. So 'Good Newwz', in fact, has a large enough platform to perform at the box office.
The trailer of the film is well-appreciated, and is carrying a good buzz among its target audience. The trailer has managed to create a good hype for the film, which is a mark of a good trailer. Apart from the pre-release hype/buzz that the movie has generated for itself through its promos, it will be Akshay Kumar propelling this film at the box office by virtue of his star-power. As always with the big-star films, star-power and hype will do the magic in the initial days, thereafter it will mostly be the audience word-of-mouth.
Honestly, it is has been quite difficult to predict 'Good Newwz'. Even after analyzing the trends, the keywords, the volume, and the views on promos, likes/dislikes; arriving at a fairly confident first day prediction figure was difficult. And then, there is our gut-feeling which tells us something different. While our 'dimaag' says 15-16 crore opening, 'dil' says at least 20+ opening. But last time, for 'Housefull 4'', we went by our gut-feeling/heart and predicted an opening day figure of 25+, which ended-up falling flat on our faces!
On the whole, going by the current buzz and hype, we predict that 'Good Newwz' might collect in excess of 16 crores on its first day at the box office.
