The Malayalam entertainment channels haven't witnessed much of a rise in their viewership even amidst the lock-down across Kerala due to novel coronavirus. In fact, Asianet saw a significant drop in its impressions compared to last week. But even after this notable drop, Asianet still is the Top Malayalam TV Channel.
The Malayalam news channels have scored bumper TRPs this week, and the increase in viewership impressions are more than double compared to last week. The impressions of Malayalam news channels had already witnessed a rise last week, and this week's rise comes on top of the last week's rise, which makes it even better. Asianet News, with close to 1 lakh impressions this week, is the Top Malayalam News Channel.

Asianet continues to be the Top Malayalam TV channel with far better viewership impressions than the rest of the channels. Asianet Movies is the new entrant to the Top-5 list this week with 63418K impressions. Asianet Movies has replaced Surya TV in this week's TRP list, and currently occupies the 5th spot.
In the Malayalam news channels category, Asianet News is still at the top. All of the news channels this week have witnessed a huge surge in their viewerships when compared to the last week.

The top 3 positions remain the same from last week. And, in the 4th and 5th positions, Surya TV and Zee Keralam have swapped their respective last week's positions.
In the Malayalam news channels category, Asianet News continues to lead the TRP ratings list. And, Mathrubhumi News and Manorama News have exchanged their last week's positions. The overall viewership impression of all the Malayalam news channels has come down this week.

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TV viewership data, the top most watched Malayalam TV channel from 11th January to 17th January 2020 with the highest TRP impressions is Asianet. Asianet has been in the top position ever since the beginning, and has never lost its top spot, and looks like it will continue to be in the top spot for a long time in the future as well. Asianet is far ahead of its competition, and the channel has consistently maintained its viewership impressions week after week. Asianet was the first Malayalam private entertainment channel to be launched back in 1993, which is now fully owned by Star India. The first mover advantage has massively helped the channel in maintaining its foothold over the Malayalam TV audience. Asianet has more than 3.5 times viewership impressions compared to its nearest competitors.
Flowers TV occupies the distant second place in the Malayalam TV channels TRP ratings list with the weekly viewership impression of 82035000. And, Mazhavil Manorama, Surya TV and Zee Keralam occupy the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions respectively.
In the Malayalam news channels category, Asianet News leads the TRP ratings list, and continues to occupy the top spot this week as well. The channel has twice as much as viewership impressions compared to the second ranked channel, Manorama News. And, Mathrubhumi News, Twenty Four and Janam TV hold the 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively. Janam TV has pushed-out News18 Kerala to occupy the 5th spot.
