The Tamil news channels have seen a huge increase in their viewership impressions this week, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The increase in impressions are more than double when compared to last week's impressions, and are more than thrice when compared to the week before the last. Polimer News is the Top Tamil News Channel this week with 183135K impressions.

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TV viewership data, the most watched top Tamil TV channel this week is Sun TV. The positions of Tamil entertainment TV channels haven't changed from last week. However, the overall viewership impression of all the channels has come down this week.
Even in the news channels category, the positions of the channels remain unchanged. And, Polimer News continues to lead the Tamil news channels TRP ratings list. But, the impressions of all the news channels have reduced from last week.

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TV viewership data, the top Tamil TV channel from 11th January 2020 to 17th January 2020 is Sun TV. Sun TV continues to be the top Tamil TV channel week after week. And, Sun TV has witnessed a surge in its viewership impressions this week, while all the other Tamil GECs have seen a decline in their viewership impressions. Sun TV has almost 3 times viewership impressions compared to its competitor Star Vijay which holds the second place.
There is no change in the positions of the Tamil General Entertainment Channels from last week.
In the news channels category, Polimer News continues to rule the roost, while the other Tamil news channels fight it out for the 2nd place. Polimer News is way ahead of the other Tamil news channels.

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TV viewership data, the top Tamil TV channel from 04th January 2020 to 10th January 2020 is Sun TV. Sun TV has been the most watched Tamil TV channel for many months now, and has consistently maintained its top spot in the TRP list. The channel has maintained a good gap between itself and the rest of the channels, and so far doesn't look like it will leave the top spot anytime soon.
Occupying the distant second place in Tamil TV channel TRP list is Star Vijay, which has roughly half of Sun TV's viewership in terms of the impressions. Zee Tamil, KTV and Star Vijay Super ocuupy the respective 3rd, 4th and 5th place in the TRP chart. The positions of the channels are unchanged from last week, but there is a notable reduction in the impressions of all the channels compared to last week.
In the Tamil News Channels category, Polimer News continues to hold the top spot. All the Tamil news channels have witnessed a drop in their viewership impressions compared to last week. But, the drop in viewership of Polimer News is significantly less compared to other Tamil news channels. Even the positions of the channels have seen a change this week. Puthiya Thalaimurai which was in the 2nd place last week has slipped to 5th place this week. And, Thanthi TV which was in the 4th place last week has moved-up to 2nd place. Sun News and News18 Tamil Nadu occupy the 3rd and 4th place respectively.
