Hindi Movie Satellite Television Rights
What are Satellite Rights ? - The satellite rights of the movies are the broadcast rights acquired by the Satellite TV networks to telecast those movies on their respective TV channels. The rights acquired can be for lifetime or for a limited period of time. However, the movies can only be telecast by the rights acquirer only after a specified period of time after the films' initial theatrical release, depending upon the deals signed. The satellite rights of Bollywood films, especially of the big-budget big-star films, are usually bought long before the theatrical release of the film. The revenue from the sale of the satellite rights form a significant chunk of income to the movie producers, which usually bails them out by making their films safe-ventures even before the release, or helps them to expand their movie budgets.
